The landscapes of the Celtic countries have provided a central focus for my practice. While most of my work is made in Wales, I have also worked extensively in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, and the westernmost corner of Cornwall. In these places, I have sought to explore how light shapes our perception of landscape and reveals connections that transcend geographical boundaries.

The photographs presented in Celtic Light are not conceived as topographical records. Rather, they are responses to atmosphere, history, and memory — an attempt to articulate a shared sensibility that runs through these landscapes. Each location is distinct, yet united by qualities of light, weather, and terrain that evoke a cultural and emotional kinship.

This body of work reflects an ongoing enquiry into belonging and identity within the wider Celtic tradition. Through the camera, I aim to create images that encourage viewers to look beyond surface appearance and consider the deeper resonances of place.

Aled’s work has been displayed in group shows and individual exhibitions since 1984, at venues in Wales including the National Library of Wales, MOMA Cymru, Wales Millennium Centre, Mission Gallery Swansea (2010), St David’s Hall Cardiff (2011), National Assembly in Cardiff, (2014) and in various galleries across Europe. At the prestigious National Eisteddfod he has been awarded the Gold Medal for Fine Art in 2006 purchased by Glynn Vivian Gallery through a CASW award and the People’s Choice Award in 2008.

이 작업은 켈틱 전통이라는 더 넓은 맥락 안에서 ‘소속감’과 ‘정체성’에 대한 지속적인 탐구를 반영한다. 카메라를 통해 나는 관람객이 표면적인 풍경 너머를 바라보고, 장소가 지닌 더 깊은 울림을 느끼도록 이끌고자 한다.

Aled의 작품은 1984년부터 웨일스 내 주요 기관과 유럽 여러 갤러리에서 개인전 및 단체전을 통해 소개되어 왔다. 주요 전시로는 웨일스 국립도서관, 웨일스 현대 미술관MOMA Cymru, 웨일스 밀레니엄 센터, 스완지 미션 갤러리 (2010), 카디프 세인트 데이비드 홀(2011), 카디프 국회(2014) 등이 있다. 그는 웨일스 최고 권위의 문화 예술 축제인 내셔널 아이스테드포드National Eisteddfod에서 2006년 미술 부문 금메달이 작품은 웨일스 현대미술협회(CASW) 어워드를 통해 글린 비비언 갤러리 소장품으로 매입과 2008년 관객상People’s Choice Award을 수상했다.
